End of Year Letter from the Board of Education

Dear School District 8 Staff,

The Board of Education wants you to know that you, our employees, are the most valuable asset of the Kootenay Lake School District.

Without you, our students would not have thrived… without you our schools would not have flourished, and without you our district would not have functioned.

It is really hard to do the job you do, as well as you do. The work you do is impressive under normal circumstances, but that you have continued to do so through the uncertainty and intensity of these past months is extraordinary.

If doing your job well has sometimes felt challenging in the past, it has probably been especially overwhelming at times through these pandemic months.

You have been courageous, resilient and resourceful. You have demonstrated your willingness to be flexible and your commitment to our students, as you adapted to tremendous changes almost overnight. You supported our students and families in every way possible.

Because of you, our students will be able to return in the fall, better prepared to continue their learning journey.

The Board of Education would like to thank each and every one of you for all that you do and for all that you give. We hope that you will find time to rest, relax, rejuvenate and enjoy a very well deserved break this summer.

Sincerely,

Lenora Trenaman

Board Chair, Board of Education
