About ELEV8

New Name, Same Personalized Learning Experience

Elev8 Online Learning is open to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Elev8, formerly known as the Distance Education School of the Kootenays (DESK), teachers plan and oversee all of our BC-approved and accredited education programs. Parents, wherever and whenever possible, are always encouraged to provide the day to day support at home for their student.

Elev8 DESK is proud to also offer adult education programs.

Our Elementary Program (K-9) is fulltime with a school year that operates from September to June. Our Kindergarten/Grade 1 program is currently paper-based. K to Grade 1 is under construction, with a new learning platform, Brightspace D2L, to start in the 2023/2024 school year; Grades 2/3 are a blended program (paper-based resources and online components); and Grades 4-9 are delivered online through our current learning management system, Canvas.

In our Secondary Program (10-12), students may enroll in our online courses either full-time or part-time. Each of our offered online courses has its own outline which is provided prior to enrolment so that potential students are familiar with the responsibilities and expectations.
